ABOUT
The Adopt-a-Flowerpot Program is designed to engage residents, businesses, and community groups in the beautification of Eastern Boulevard. For many residents, this program offers a tangible and meaningful way to get involved in Essex CDC’s work and directly contribute to the appearance of our main corridor. By adopting and maintaining decorative flowerpots, participants help create a more vibrant, welcoming environment that reflects the pride and commitment of the Essex community.
How to Sign Up
Signing up is simple and can be done through Givebutter, our online registration and payment platform.
- Visit the Adopt-a-Flowerpot Program Givebutter page.
- Read the description and click on Sign Up Here.
- Pay the adoption fee securely online.
- Receive a confirmation email with details for the next planting day.
Program Guidelines
- Appropriate Content – Decorations must be family-friendly and free from offensive imagery.
- Respectful Displays – Messages and symbols must be inclusive and non-discriminatory.
- Safety First – Decorations must not block sidewalks or create hazards.
- Year-Round Care – Participants are responsible for maintenance in all seasons.
- Creative Expression – Personal touches and seasonal décor are encouraged within guidelines.
- Limited Advertising – Groups may display their names on signs no larger than 8” by 8”. Large-scale advertising is not permitted.
- Community Participation – Attendance at Fall and Spring planting days is encouraged.
- Waitlist & Reassignment – Because the number of flowerpots is limited, a waitlist may be created if demand exceeds availability. If a participant’s pot is left neglected for an extended period, as determined by the Streetscape Committee, we may reassign it to the next person on the waitlist to ensure ongoing care and beautification.
- No additions can be made to the flowerpot itself: ex. no painting, no stickers, etc. Maintenance and upkeep refers only to plants and decorations inside the flowerpot.
Conformance
By enrolling, participants agree to:
- Adopt & Care – Care for the assigned flowerpot for one year.
- Upkeep – Handle watering, seasonal decorating, including additional decorative flowers, and general care.
- Liability – Shared Responsibility – While the Streetscape Committee will monitor and support the program, participants are asked to notify us if their flowerpot is damaged, moved, or in need of replacement.
- Adherence – Follow all program guidelines.
- Annual Renewal – Pay the annual fee to continue participation.
Timeline
Deadline to register is Thursday, October 23 at 12 noon.
